Hi Guys, just wonderin.... I'm in NJ, I got a price of 17,000 for a TCD29 with Super Steer and with a loader with 200 hrs on it. It was used only to cut grass and do light work. It looks in good shape and still has 1 yr warrenty on it(I think) First.. does this price sound decent?? 2nd, is this tractor big enuff to pull a 5' brush hog, and do general farm chores???? The TC29D will handle a 5 ft brush hog with no problems... you will need a loader or weights up front to balance it. I've been using a Woods BB60 brush cutter on my TC33D. With 2 of New Holland's samller weights on the front (on loan till my FEL came in) it was OK, but sometimes felt a bit light going uphill... never lifted the front end, but did have occasional steering traction problems.
I was quoted $16,000 for a new TC29D with 7308 FEL and block heater (no super steer) with Ag tires (add $240 for R4 tires). I don't know what SS adds to the new price, but my guess is that you should try to talk them down a bit on price for this one, since it already has 200 hours on it. (I ended up with a new 33D, and was able to get them to knock about $750 off the asking price, so my bet is that I could have done a similar deal on the 29D) ....

I agree with John that a TC29 is OK for a 5' brush hog; I spent 4 happy hours on Saturday mowing waist deep or better (grown up) hay fields with mine. I had to go down to low range/3rd gear in places, but mostly mowed in 2nd range, low gear. As you can see, mine is a standard transmission.
I would also agree about ballasting the front end. I have 160 lbs of home made weights on the front of mine, and wish I had more sometimes. I don't have my tires filled, though. John, how much do your factory weights weigh, and do you have your front tires filled? I was figuring on building a grill guard and filling it with concrete or lead for more weight.

I paid the same price for the same tractor with Super Steer, R4s, and 7308 FEL a month ago. Mine had 150 hours on it and still had a full 2 year warranty (it was some kind of program tractor). Dealer threw in cast iron wheel weights.
I'm not much of a negotiator so I may have been able to do a little better, but based on prices I see posted on this site, I think your price is within a few hundred of the bottom. It won't hurt to ask if he will either drop a couple hundred or throw in weights or something else you might need.

New Holland has 2 options for the front "suitcase" weights. I had the lighter ones: 2 weights @ 57# each = 114# total. I did NOT have my front tires filled. (Dealer was very reluctant to do it, said it puts more stress on the front axle or something... I guess since the liquid does not help absorb shock like air filled does). This was barely enough. I lost a bit of steering traction at times, but never lifted the front end.
Per the owner's manual, the other NH Suitcase weight option is for 2 weights @ 100# each. This would probably be a real pain to get on and off, IMO.
SOB: a thought for you... I don't know how much Supersteer costs, but if you don't need it, you can get the same tractor (with FEL) NEW for about the same price as this used one is running you, or a few hundred dollars more. I was quoted $16,900 by one dealer, was not able to get my local dealer down that low, but went with him anyway ($17,500 for TC33D w/7308 FEL and engine block heater) ....

Price is ok SOB. I just paid 17,600 for the same machine without super steer but with a 5 ft. bush hog. Bushhog works great only adjust your speed if you are mowing high grass. If I was in your shoes I would go look at new before I made a decision. I looked for 5 months before I ended up buying new, I felt hte used prices wher to close to new. Hope this helps good luck. ....

i was quoted 18K for a new tractor, new 6ft finishing mower and new FELoader. this was a walk in the door and ask how much price. that sounds a little high to me since its used. if you are paying cash then the used might be the way to go if they will come down some, wave the money in their face and they will, if you are financing then go with the new tractor. you get a better financing rate which will offset the difference in the two prices plus you will get better dealer service. ....
