I need to get a longer PTO shaft. Both the tractor and the implements have the standard compact tractor 1 3/8" splined shaft. When I look at a list of possible PTO shafts such as at http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/3500010.htm, I see a variety of designations such as AX6, AX8, RX1, TX1, etc. Could someone give me a short course in PT0 nomenclature so I can figure out just what I really need?

For me to guide you I need to know the size of the mower as well as the tractor and what is being used now. The numbers that you see are close to the generic codes used by everyone. The model A2 is for up to 20 horsepower the A3 for 30 and on up in the metric side. We normally cut shafts and make them for the customers using there own joints that came with the machine. Many Dealers do that today even though the prices on these shafts are reasonable. ....
