Just a question... is there really a big difference(besides the price) between the TC's and the TCD's??? I'm interested in a 33 and I'd be doing mainly brushoggin and some simple loader work... Thanks! SOB

The main difference is the hydro xmsn; then the deluxe seat (which is really excellent). Both are really great for loader work. Given the small cost differential I think it's a no-brainer, but that's just an opinion. ....

I would disagree about the price difference; I considered it too much money to pay for too little return (basically the hydrostatic transmission) I understand the hydros are great for loader work; but still, some love 'em, some hate 'em. I was looking at about $1500 difference from the "S" to the "D" model.
I've got about 135 hours on my 10 month old TC29S now, mostly finish mowing and rock moving, a little bush hogging. It works great, no problems.

I went through the same debate you are going through. I ended up with a TC33D. I was quoted a $1000 difference. The main difference is that the 33D has a Hydrostatic transmission (that alone often adds about $1000 over a gear transmission for many brands). Also standard features include:
folding ROPS ($130 option on standard model)
deluxe seat (better suspension of the seat, more adjustable, swivels 20û left or right... usefull when using a rear implement).
deluxe 3 pt hitch w/telescoping lower arms and stabilizers (makes hooking up 3 pt implements much easier) -- $165 option on standard model
Tilt and telescope on the steering wheel
"Wrap-around" headlights (more illumination to the sides than standard)
Larger hydraulic pumps on both steering and implement pump
Faster max forward speed on the "D" (12.8 vs 14.3 MPH)
Supersteer is only available on the "D" models (not that I chose this option)
I don't know whether any of these extras are worth anything to you. The hydro is nice if you are doing a lot of loader work. You can zip in and out of the pile with ease. It's also nice if others will be operating the tractor who are not so familiar with it (this was a factor in my decision... my wife will also be using it, and does not want to deal with all the various shift knobs). Some of the others are just "gimme's", but in my opinion the ROPS, deluxe hitch, and the seat were big plusses. I didn't even know abpout the extra hydrualic pump capacity when I bought it, but I suppose it could come in handy for some implements. ....

I will put my two cents in after have used a gear drive then going to a hydro, in my opinion there is not question about getting the hydro. The other place it comes in handy (other than loader work)is when you do a lot of close quarters work. My wife has a garden that is fenced to keep deer out and working in there without the hydro would be a real chore.
If neither of those apply to you, you might consider saving the money or using it to get more HP. ....

Gee, How high is the fence? There’s a joke around here about a guy who bought an 8' high fence and installed it around his garden. The next morning the garden was full of deer. The guy complained to the fence salesman. Thought you knew, said the salesman, we've got 8' deer here, but you've got 10' deer. ....
