A MF/Zetor dealer in New Mexico is selling a Ford 1700, 1980 with 770A loader with 1105 hrs (meter says 105) with a recently rebuilt engine and new clutch. Last yr this machine sat for while in lot, then it was shipped to dealer in another town where it was sold then reposessed. After repo they rebuilt the engine--the people must have worked it hard. They are asking $10,900. It looks good now with fresh hyodraulics. I realize this is a dealers attempt to get his money out of this machine but what do you think it is worth? What a reasonable offer to a dealer knowing that they need to probably sell it for $1000 more than its worth. Also the local NH dealer is right down the road with no used machines avail. Do you think it would be out of line to pay then some money to check out this machine if I indicate that I'd use them for service while I own this NH tractor.

I've followed the small tractor market for years.....I don't want to discourageyou, but this is not a particularly good deal. You can get the same tractorwith half as many hours and never needed a rebuild for the 8500 to 10,000 mark.Buy any large city newspaper and check it out. Denver is good.I would be suspicious of this machine. The dealer should be very helpful if youwant to have ANYONE check it over. Of course the checker will be in oppositionto the dealer's biases.....that's what you are paying them for! If the dealerhas anything to fear from a mechanical exam then you have lots to fear....Roger ....

I just noticed that you are dealing with a MF/Zetor dealer....Both of thesemodern machines are much, much superior to the 20 year old Ford. The MF can bepricy....but it is lots better than the old ford. The Zetor is an excellentmachine and hardly more expensive new than the Ford is used. You might want to ask some other Zetor dealer what they will sell you one for.BTW, in case you didn't know it, NH has taken over what used to be the Fordtractor line. Chances are they know that 1700 Ford extremely well. ....
