Hi there, I'm the new guy with questions about the Kubota B series four wheel drives. Is this a full-time system, or is there a setting (as on NH Boomers)that will allow you to mow without tearing up sod? Also, any comments on Bi-speed turn? Thanks in advance.

Yes,you can engage and dis-engage the front axle on any B-Series,even the BX models. The bi-speed turn works very well, unlike the super-steer on the Boomers, which the whole axle pivets, the front wheels turn at faster speeds, independently, pulling the front end around, and making a shorter turn.Hope this doesn't sound like I'm bashing the Boomers, cause I'm not.I've heard nothing but good things about the Super-Steer option. ....

We have sold the bi-speed function on many Kubota's and have had no repairs to date. It is not a neccesity to have unless you need to mow in four wheel drive. ....

I've got a B2400 - great little machine. As the others have said, the 4-wheel drive engages/disengages by moving a lever on the right hand fender. I looked at the bi-speed when I bought mine a couple of years ago. After a long discussion with the dealer, I decided against it. As the dealer said, "It's just something else to possibly go wrong", although he admitted that he had never had to repair any. I drove tractors with and without and it seems to work pretty well but the hydro transmission makes it so easy and fast to back up to make sharp turns that I decided not to get the bi-speed. I suppose if you really had a need for it, lots of turns in 4-wheel drive or working in tight spaces, it might be useful but under normal circumstances I don't think it's necessary. ....
