Hi yall,
Just wanted to pass this along -
I was havin a helluva time getting the driveshaft from my 3-point snow blower hooked up to the tractor. I keep it greased so it will not rust but apparently the grease was just too heavy in freezing weather. I slid the tractor-side half out and brought it inside to warm up, wiped off the old grease and wiped the PTO shaft down with light oil. A couple days later I took it back out and it went on nice as could be. So there's another one for my bag of tricks - it only took 20 years to figure out.

With the crazy warm weather this year I have delayed putting the blower on until we get a forecast for heavy snow that the loader and grader blade cannot handle. I agree the drive shaft can be a pain if the ball bearings are sticky with dirt and grease, which seems to be most of the time! I have been spraying it with WD 40 to clean and then spraying teflon lube. I make sure the ball bearings move smoothly. If I do not do that I have a heck of time mounting the shaft as you pointed out. Thanks for the good tip! ....
