I got a new Samsung Dishwasher last month and had it installed with a Flood Defender stainless steel braided hose for the Hot water feed. I read through the Dishwasher instructions and they speicifically state that you should not use a Flood Safe Braided hose with no mention of why not!

So I contacted Samsung Customer Service and they said the reason is to avoid water damage to my cabinets, and the Flood Defender hose had no impact on the dishwasher performance.

This makes no sense to me as the the purpose of the valve in the Flood Defender hose is to stop a flood in the event of a hose break.

Now what would make sense to me is that perhaps the valve could reduce the water pressure and minimize how well the the dishwasher performs. Wonder if any one has any experience with a flood safe braided hoses before I go through reinstalling it with a plain braided hose.

The Flood Safe Braided hoses area great idea just not a good thing to do with today's Dishwashers that are already trying to restrict water consumption. Flood Safe Hoses restict water to about 1/10th the flow of a regular 3/8 braided hose. This means that too little water gets to the dishwasher and can cause early failure and bad washing performance. ....
