I have a new LS3060 rotary mower that I am setting up for initial use. Manual says it was shipped with no gear oil so I am trying to unscrew the fill cap to do so and it willnot budge. I do not want to bust something and am I missing something? This should notbe that tight.

Could be the paint got in the threads a small amount, see if your can scratch around the nut with a knife and spray some WD40 on it. ....

Bear in mind that a pipe plug is a plumbing (tapered) thread so if the person who put it together gave it an extra twist that combined with a bit of surface rust will certainly lock it up pretty solid.

If it’s proud of the box (sticking up a bit) a good rap with a hammer might help break it loose, if not try putting an old bolt or punch in the socket and use that to give it a little percussion therapy.

Best of luck. ....
