I have a cast aluminum table that I would like to refresh its weathered bronze tone appearance.

In past years I have tried a couple of things.

1) Wipe with Cooking oil. Pros easy, creates rich deep brown color, lasts pretty good but not full season. Negatives could attract insects. Stain clothing. Cleaning table removes oil.

2) Tongue Oil Varnish. Pro easy Negatives does not enhance rich color.

I was wondering if anyone has sprayed a table like this with a tinted poly with any good results. Or anything else that would enhance the look of it?

I have tried one of the Aluminum Restore Products that cost $30 for a pint. It just does not last or warrant the cost.

Actually priming and spraying with Poly Paint is too much in my view and as an amateur will probably have less than stellar results.

I have found that Olive Oil gives about the same results and while it is a temporary fix and washes off it is better than nothing and costs almost nothing. Takes about 5 minutes to do. ....
