tractor stalling

I have a 1994 John Deere 1070 tractor and am having issues with it- the tractor starts up fine but when I depress the clutch and shift into gear the tractor dies - any suggestions ? Probably ly some safety feature or another issue- Tractor would not start about a year ago and it ending being the pto lever was not complete disengaged -any suggestions would be appreciated-peter up in Wisconsin

Does it stop if you engage the pto while it is in neutral?
If it does check your seat safety ....

thanx for your response on tractor stalling issue- If possible could you describe where the safety switch might be on that John Deere 1070 tractor and what it might look like and sometimes there is a way to test and see if the safety switch is working properly-thanx again-petert ....

You need to get your own service manual to check electrical issues...
