Hi guys,
I recently bought a used 2004 Kioti LB1914 with 916 hours. The tractor sometimes kick out of gear when I shift the lever to go forward or backwards and sometime it will grind if the gears are not engaged. Also on the high range, the 6th and 7th gears are not working. The tractor act like it wanna go but would not. The 5th and 8th gears are working fine. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions that will help me fix this? Your helps are much appreciated.

Could easily be the clutch pressure plate.First try adjusting the clutch (if you haven't already) before you take anything apart. If that doesn't work then open it up and have a look at the clutch plate ( Kioti talks about clutch plate warp if a tractor has been left idle too long, but you are much better off to go with a decent agricultural mechanic's advice than Kioti's as my experience with any advice directly from Kioti N.A. has been dismal.) and then the pressure plate. A couple of other people have mentioned that the adjustment mechanism threads sometimes strip and this results in damage to the pressure plate. - That is what they found when they opened theirs up. It could also be the thrust bearing, but at only 900 odd hours that's pretty unlikely.

Clutches and pressure plates are very simple to replace and not particularly expensive to buy. You may even be able to get parts for the pressure plate if you have a good shop nearby, but not likely worth the effort as the plate itself is only a little over $130. ( same for the clutch plate) ....

Cheapscot thanks for your help. And if you don't mind helping me again, how do you adjust the clutch? This is the first time I have a tractor and I have no ideas how to adjust it. Where is the adjusting bolt located and how do you adjusted? ....

On many makes, you search along the clutch pedal shaft for a pair of nuts locked together, separate them, turn both to tighten, and re-lock together.

You should get an owners or operator manual, the one that comes with the new tractor. Try the seller or the head office. Maybe ebay, but make sure it's not a copy of a copy.

One reason I didn't buy a Kioti was that the selling dealer could or would not include what would be better, a service manual -- the one that is mechanics would refer to -- saying there's no such thing. ....

You can definitely get a service manual for any of the Kiotis now. The operators manual is useful, but the service manual is what really pays off. Just do a search with "Kioti" your model and "manual" and some vendor will come up. Another thing to do is do a search of the various parts vendors and they often have the appropriate schematics which are sometimes zoomable so you can see the parts well enough to figure out what goes where and what a good part versus a damaged part look like.

Vince- You may have found this out already, but the Cummins Fleetguard hydrostatic filters fit the DK Series. I found out when I started cross referencing with some Australian equivalents of a Polish filter used on Kiotis sold in Poland. It looks like the all the different filters are made in China and FOB out of Shanghai at $12.30 a pop. I don't feel guilty buying from Cummins at half the price of Daedong as there is still a heck of a lot of profit in it for the seller. ....
