I'm looking for some input as to tire ballast for my JD 955. The technical manual says calcium chloride and water won't damage rims if filled to at least 75%. JD dealer says put tubes in the tires and then fill. Or, if I don't do tubes, put water and antifreeze in instead (not as heavy but won't corrode rims). How full should they be filled? The manual says not to exceed 90%.Anybody have suggestions or experiences that may be of help?

Firestone has some interesting info on their web site about hydroinflation of agricultural tires. See the following three pages for details:

http://www.firestoneag.com/tiredata/info/info_hydro_1.asp ,
http://www.firestoneag.com/tiredata/info/info_hydro_2.asp ,
http://www.firestoneag.com/tiredata/info/info_hydro_3.asp .

The Firestone site has lots of other useful tire info (inflation pressures, load ranges, anti-hop tips, etc.), but it seems with each revision to the site the useful info gets harder to find.

Can't help you with the tube/tubeless controversy. On my dealer's advice, I've had my Kubota tubeless rears filled with calcium chloride solution for 6 years with no problems so far.
