Greetings,
I'm having trouble with my John Deere 790. I had been moving snow for an hour or so when the tractor began running rough and slowly faded away and stalled. Tractor was under a load when this happened the first time. Tractor started again with no problem but repeated the same symptoms when under load. I left the tractor sitting for around 15 mins. When I started it again it ran fine for several minutes, faded and stalled again when placed under load. Problem seems worse when tractor is on an incline. No smoke is present when this happens. Any ideas as to what may be going on would be appreciated.

What was the outside tempretaure when you had the problem?
Most likely either jelled fuel or a clogged fuel filter. Jelled fuel seems less likely in your climate than a clogged filter, try a new filter. ....

Thanks for your reply. Temp. was around 30 when it happened. I had been using the tractor for over an hour. Temp when I started was around 20. I should note that fuel level in the tank(1/4) was lower than it has been in some time.

Fuel level shouldn't have any bearing long as the outlet is covered by fuel. Being it ran for an hour before stalling I'm pretty sure a new fuel filter will get you going. Check your owners manual if you aren't familliar with changing the filter. Some fuel systems need to be bled after the filter change and some don't, again check your owners manual. ....

JS, did you get hit hard this past Saturday? Did not watch it much but understand parts of NC took it rather hard. Appreciated how close I am to the coast. We had ice about 60 miles west of us, maybe even closer.
Hope you enjoy it here. I came for a quick need a few years back and found some good people here. KT ....

Got hammered KT(well hammered for here).Between 12 and 14 inches where I live near the Virginia line. I have found there are good people everywhere...and you usually get to meet them when you ask for help.....
