Hi, all! It's been quite some time since I was last on. I'm still loving my Kubota 3430 HSTC, and have a question about availability of a particular implement. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but since it's specifically for a Kubota I thought it'd be a good place to ask.

Anyway, I really need use of a sickle mower. I have some ROW areas I need to mow that are too uneven abd steep to ride on with a bush hog, but would be perfect to mow from the road with a sickle mower. Does anyone know if they make a sickle for a tractor this size? (3430 HSTC).

Although I LOVE my HST tranny, it's still noisy as all get out. Has anyone developed a way to mute these things a bit? If I'm stoppe dor have it floored the noise is minimal. It's aminly when I'm just easing on the pedal that it's screams and whines.

Lastly, my tractor used to ride as smooth as silk (well, for a tractor) on roads, but recently my tractor--at certain speeds (around 6-8 mph)--gets really bumpy and it almost sounds like it's going to shake the cab loose. If I go faster or slower it stops--it's just that mid-range speed. Any ideas? Thanks!

Johnathanengr,

Any catagory 1 3pt implement will work with your tractor. Most ag dealers will likely stock the mower you are looking for. However, you can usually save a lot of money, as used cicle mowers are available for sale at auctions on a regular basis.

Your noisy transmission worries me greatly. I hope you've checked your fluid levels, changed your filters, and checked your screens. It sounds to me as though it may not be getting fluid, which will quickly destroy your hyd. pump. Even if your fluid levels are good, a filter or screen may be plugged enough to prevent the proper flow of fluid to your transmission pump. Check with your manual and then replace/clean all filters and screens.

As for the vibration and shaking of your tractor, I would seriously consider having it looked at by a professional mechanic. There are too many possible causes for me to even guess at here. It could be something as simple as a bent shaft or axle, but it could also be something much more serious. If you allow this condition to persist for too long, you could end up with a very healthy repair bill. Get it fixed as soon as possible.

Joel ....

Ugh--that really does worry me. The HST has been loud ever since I bought it, and I actually called the dealer who told me "Hydrostats are just that way". I'll definitely do what you recommended, however, and get it serviced.

Regarding the hydrostat noise, I know it's hard to describe, but how loud should it be? What should it sound like? ....
