Round or Square bucket

I just got an L5030HST (traded my 3130) with the 853FEL and QA. I didn't specify so I got the 72" square bucket. I had a round bucket on the 3130. Before I start digging, does anyone have opinions on round vs. square for FEL buckets? I might be able to trade before I 'use' it.

In general it depends on what you are loading. The square tends to hold a little more for given space and is a little easier to repair but will tend to hold sticky materials in the bucket corners, like manure or AL clay. It will also not be as strong as the curved as with any steel the curve is stronger than a flat and will not dent as easily. ....

The round back bucket will allow the product coming in not to hit a square back wall but one rounded that would allow the product to double over against the back wall instead of being dead ended. There is a price difference between the two. ....

Thanks, guys - I appreciate the info. I'll have to check with my dealer on the price diff. I'd like him to weld some chain hooks on to, so the question was, do I bring him my square bucket or swap it for a round one with the hooks after he's installed them. As I said, the 3130 came with round and it worked fine.

I have not seen the particular buckets you're talking bout but generally the square buckets have more breakout force than the round as the bottom is generally shorter i.e., less available leverage. ....
