I have a 40 twenty series tractor, which weighs 3700lbs.
How heavy of a 3pt hitch, side-disc mower would it handle?

That's a loaded question.

How far outboard will it be? Is it for flat land, or slopes? Does the mower have an outboard wheel to suport some of its weight?
