What would the lifting capacity of a 2210 be if the bucket was changed out to pallet forks? I am just trying to size the right unit for the job without going overboard. Ballast box and wheel weights could be added, just need to know what this setup can lift b4 I buy.

Thanks

That is an interesting question. I have forks for my 4115 and I use them as much or more than the bucket.

I figure it will probably lift about 80 percent of what the bucket will lift..... with qualifications.

Recently I unloaded pallets of sheet metal roofing for the house from a 40 foot flat bed and last week I picked a propane tank out of a u-haul trailer.

In both cases I couldn't lift the loads straight up.... I just didn't have the power with the forks up that high.... but I could "curl" the loads free of the trailers and back away and safely lower it to a safe transport height.

You will find that you have a lot more lift close to the ground and some things that are too heavy to lift you can still get off the ground with the curl function.

BTW... before you try any of the above, get as much ballast on board as the manual allows.

Between the wheel weights, the three point ballast and your humble correspondent there is 1000 pounds on the rear of my tractor and I need every ounce of it to pick a heavy load from six feet off the ground. ....

So you think a 2210 with loader/pallet fork set up could puck up a 600lb pallet from 3 foot off the ground and set it down or lift it back on? ....

Its all a function of how high up and how far out that weight is. For example, a poster at TBN decided to test the 2210/210 loader capacity (53" bucket) and found the following:
Full height (68") 750 lbs.
61" 800 lbs.
51" 850 lbs.
45" 900 lbs.
38" 950 lbs.
16" 1170 lbs.
I'll bet the 2210/210 could lift 600 lbs. 36" high, but it would depend on how far out front that weight is distributed. Ballast weight will be critical!

Cheers

Is it a matter of the rear coming up, or is it that the hydraulics will not have the power to do it? If its just rear weight needed, then that is no problem, I can add wheel weights, ballast etc. The sales people at JD are not much help either...but they at least try. They gave me the lifting specs etc also. I plan on removing the bucket so that the weight will be closer to the arms rather than the pallet forks that hanging on the bucket end....but I am not sure if it will handle it or not and I have not way of testing it b4 I buy. ....

600 pounds? Probably. The problem is where some of that load sits. If it is way out at the end of the forks it could be iffy.

Evenly distributed on a pallet or concentrated close to the "elbow" of the forks would work the best.

Example: You might be able to pick up a heavy log and carry it close to the tractor but if you cut the same log in pieces and stacked it on a pallet it might not get off the ground.

I can tell you this: if you get the quick attach forks you will not be sorry. ....

Its been my experience with my 2210 is the loader will lift just about any thing you can think of a small tractor can lift. I recently was able to lift and unload 550 lbs of retaining wall blocks on a pallet from the back of a f150 4x4 bed height approx 4 ft. But as other members have already stated the rear ballast box, with calcium filled tires made all the difference to do that with out loosing the load. ....
