The issue you're describing with your New Holland TC33 and 7308 loader β€” where the bucket curls back but will not curl down β€” is commonly caused by one of the following:

1. Stuck or Damaged Spool Valve in the Control Valve
If the control lever moves normally but the curl-down function doesn’t respond, the most likely culprit is the spool valve for that circuit being stuck internally.

Dirt, corrosion, or internal wear can jam the spool.

If you're comfortable with mechanical work, the control valve can be removed and disassembled for inspection. Be sure to label all hoses and fittings, and note spring orientations.

πŸ’‘ Tip: The spool should move freely in both directions. If it binds or stops halfway, it may need cleaning or replacement.

2. Hydraulic Cylinder Problem (Less Likely)
If one of the bucket cylinders is bent or the piston seals are damaged, it might move in one direction but not the other. However, since it curls back fine, this is less likely.

3. Quick-Disconnect Coupler Issue
Check all hydraulic quick-connect fittings β€” especially the tilt circuit (usually 2 lines). A partially connected or clogged quick-connect can block flow in one direction.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting both lines, making sure they seat firmly.

4. Control Lever Linkage Issue
Sometimes the linkage under the joystick gets bent or loosened, causing it not to fully move the spool valve in one direction.

How to Proceed Safely
Park the tractor, lower the loader, relieve hydraulic pressure.

Check quick-connects first β€” clean and reseat them.

Observe the control valve linkage while operating the lever β€” see if anything is binding.

If you're mechanically inclined, remove and inspect the valve block. There are some diagrams online or in the 7308 service manual.
