I need a concrete mixer. The pto-driven ones look interesting. Trouble is I don't know if any of them could be used with a Kubota bx23. Can anyone give any advice?
One I am considering is the one sold by tractor supply for $775 (TSC# 2131302).
Thanks in advance!

I'd figure out how much a mixer weighted with a full load in it and compare that to the tractor's 3ph rating. The ratings usually are defined as 'weight centered 2' behind the lower pins.' ....

I also believe the mixer you are referring to requires a hydraulic top link for the dump mechanism to work. That would mean you need rear remotes, or run the hydraulic link off a loader circuit. You should not only check the lift capacity of the three point, but also be sure that the three point will lift high enough for the dump to work properly and the alignment of the pto drive shaft is good. ....

The big issue is lifting it high enough to dump. When I did the research on these things a couple years ago it was clear that my BX was less than ideal.
You need a full Cat 1 hitch and rear tire sizes on the order of a Kubota Grand L or a Deere 43xx to make a mixer work properly. ....

I should have pulled up the item before I spoke.....
This is a totally different design than what I was looking at a couple of years ago. It MIGHT work, but you would need a top/tilt kit plus install on your tractor.
It might cost close to a couple grand by the time you mix your first batch of mud. ....

a couple grand will buy a lot of ready mix and save a lot of hassle ....

Have a look at this web page. The mixer plus 8 cubic feet of concrete is almost the same weight as your tractor. ....

So you're saying with it filled I could do wheelies around the neighborhood? That would be kinda cool.
But seriously- the one TSC is selling is smaller. I guess that's still too much weight?
I just don't want yet another gas-powered engine lying around to break. I have a curse which makes any gas-powered tool refuse to ever start again the moment the warranty is up.
Thanks, guys, for your thoughts on this. ....

Hey, guys, I bought and installed that on my Kubota L2550DT about 4y ago. It is exactly that unit in the TSC photo, but it usually has "Mixer80" written on the drum. I will try to drum up some pix to add to my profile. I no longer have the 2550, but I will install the mixer on another Kubota soon. The long and short of it is: it works very well, but it took a lot of work to get there. It comes with a crappy SINGLE-ACTING top link cylinder, without swivel balls on the ends. First thing I had to do is modify the cylinder to be double-acting. The whole thing is made in Italy, and no hydraulics supplier in my area could match the bizzaro hose fittings. So more modifications. I have now bent the cylinder rod 2x cuz one of the hole positions on the drum causes interference with the cylinder at full dump. Good thing I had a 12T pipe bender. I plan to change over to some REAL hyd toplinks I bought recently.
I mixed all the stucco for the house I built, as well as dozens of loads of concrete for small projects. I love how I can drive it up to my gravel and sand piles, then dump the concrete exactly where I want it.
I do think DRANKIN is right that you ideally need a CUT with 24" rear wheels or dumping will be harder. I may try the mixer on my JD955 to see how it works--it has only 16" rears.
My biggest complaint after getting it all working is that even at idle, I can not run the drum slow enough. (I like to mix very stiff mud.)
I estimate that the machine weighs 300# empty, and about 1100-1200# full. I have about $1000 in it, including the remote valve I added. It has paid for itself 10x over. ....
