I have a BX22, and I am wanting to purchase a box blade. I have a 5' rear grader blade, that I still haven't used that I could exchange if needed. The questions I have are 1) Is a 5' box blade to big (425#) and 2) Would I be better off going with a 6' rear grader blade. I would be mostly using it light road and pasture work and snow removal.

A couple of thoughts. For snow removal, you will want to use a grader blade. The weight will not be as much of an issue as the mouldboard height. Because of the shorter arms and lift heights on the BX models, you will want to look at blades with shorter mouldboard heights. For road finishing, especially with a clay and gravel mix, a box blade will do a better job than a grader blade. Get a heavy blade, but be carefull of the mouldboard height. The weight of the box blade is what makes it effective.
Because of the popularity of the BX sized tractors, KigKutter has a XB line with shorter mouldboards, as do several other manufacturers.
Use a grader for snow removal, use the box for finish grading the road. I don't think you would be happy trying to do both with the same blade. ....

Based on my experience, I think a 4 foot box scraper and a 5 foot grader blade are the maximum size for a BX. ....

I agree with DRankin,,keep in mind,,when you have a 5 foot scrape blade on a skew,,you are only cutting 4 feet,,and be sure you buy one you can "offset" and angle, ....
