I'm trying to spruce up an L225DT and plan to use A/C Orange as suggested on an earlier post. I went to the dealer to buy the base color thinking it would be a simple thing. WRONG! He showed me a Kubota color chart with 18 colors on it. There are 4 that are about the right color. Three versions of Excavator Blue and one that's just called Kubota Blue Enamel. Does anyone know which would match my vintage tractor? Thanks.

The color you use depends on whether you are repainting the whole thing or just parts of it. If you want to match the color for a few parts you should pick out the color chip that best matches the fade of your orange. Prior to todays base coat-clear coat automotive systems orange and red were notorious for fading. If you're going to paint the whole thing then it's probably not that important which one you choose.

When I had my L245 I ran into the same problem. The Kutoba paint is outrageously expensive. Ronnie over on tractorsmart told me that plain ole' chevy orange is a pretty good match and is a whole bunch cheaper. ....

I wasn't clear with my original post. I'm looking for the other color, not orange. I plan to use A/C orange, or Chevy orange - thanks Chief. The other color is the one I was trying to match. I'm not even sure if they call it blue or gray. After looking at the Kubota color chart with 18 colors, I didn't think any of them matched. I think I've decided to take my chances with Wal-mart's best. ....

I too had this problem with both the blue/gray and the Kubota orange. I took the fenders off my old L175 to have them welded, and purchased the paint which was supposed be the old standard from a local dealer. I painted the fenders away from the tractor and ended up with two orange colors. It was like "oh well". It looked better than it did when one of the fenders came off. The new engine paint peeled off eventually in a few areas to reveal the darker old stuff. Anyway, good luck. ....
