Hello, I am a new poster here. I have a question regarding my BX 2200. I was using it the other day to plow a light snow and suddenly as I was backing into a snowbank the pedal "stuck" down in the reverse position (it wouldn't return on it's own). It's still stiff when pushing it forward or reverse. The tractor still seems to move ok, forward or reverse. At the same time the pedal stuck, the three point lever was down and I was in the process of trying to pick the rear blade up while backing into the snowbank. The 3ph lever was stuck in the down position as well. ??? The 3ph lever freed up and seems to work normally now. I checked the linkage, return spring, pedal dampener, etc. underneath the tractor and everything appears to be free and working normally. The tractor is going to the dealer tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone has had, seen, or heard of something like this and what it might be. Thanks.

I think the only grease fitting on the whole tractor, aside from the attachments, is on the HST pedal pivot. Maybe a shot of grease might help. I also use a little WD40 on those linkage pivots and pins to chase the dirt out. ....

Ah yes a BX2200. One item that has surfaced quite abit lately is the weather. As mentioned, it is a good bet that the pedal froze up because of one of two scenarios. 1) the grease fitting allowing lube to the shaft of the pedal was dry, thusly becoming stiff. 2) If you were traveling though deep snow, the likelyhood of grabbing enough snow/ice in and around your pedal underneath side was high. If this bit of white stuff froze around the pedal shaft area, this could account for the lock-up. Or a combination of the two scenarios could have happened.
As far as the rear blade / 3pt unwilling to cooperate...with the orange hydros, especially the newer smaller versions, they operate with what is called priority hydraulics. With PH, the transmission takes priority hydraulic flow because it is the most vital part of the hydraulic system. If the transmission did not have sufficient flow, you would run the risk of burning up the pump,etc., and needless to say, you would not be moving very far...fast. With the PH in mind, you pointed out that the pedal had stuck in reverse, and at the same time the lift would not lift the 3pt. Had you not had a rear blade on at the time, (weighty in it's own right and even more so with a load of snow on it), the 3pt arms would have lifted. Keep in mind that it will take alot more power as well as hydraulic flow to move something heavy, rather than light in weight. I think what you described is exactly what the priority hydraulic concept was deisgned to do, allow the transmission as much hydraulic flow as possible, when asked for it with the pedal stuck in motion, rather than displacing to another zone of hydraulic flow use. Grease the zerk under the pedal area, it will work easier and last longer.
