Hello, I am new to this board but have been observing for quite some time. I am looking at upgrading to a kubota and have been talking to my local kubota dealer. I need to know if a late model (98) (tractor is coming in) b2400HST with loader and 60" mid mount mower, 3pt rear blade, approx. 50-60 hours for 13k is a good deal? He says new the package would be around 18K. After looking at Carvers web site he seems pretty high on the "new" cost. Any suggestions would be appriciated. I actually only wanted to spend around 9-10k, but it seems pretty old ones cost that with 1000+ hours. For 3k more I can get basically a brand new one! Should I go used or almost new? Decisions...Decisions...Thanks again for any input.

I bought a new B2400 HST with loader and 3pt rear discharge mower last year for just over $17,000 so his "new" price for the unit with belly mower (more expensive) isn't all that far off. If you're getting a used one, equiped as it is, with practically no hours on it for $13,000, it's a bargain. I'd say go for it. It's a good little machine. I absolutely love mine. ....

How many times have you set out to make a purchase, and you end up spending more than you really wanted to?I would give this dealer a deposit to lock in this unit when it comes in.Sounds like a very good deal to me. ....

Well, it came in on Thursday and it is in excellent condition, looks like new. It also has the nice sun shade ($375). I forgot about the tax (8%) which makes the total 14K. I am tossing and turning at night. Do I really need this much of a machine? I am sure most of you went through the same feeling when purchasing. He wants 1K down for a deposit. He will not even take my JD 260 garden tractor as a trade. I basically have until Monday and then he said his other sales people will be making some calls. I found out it was a repo. I do not know if that makes any difference, it also has 64 hours. When looking at all I am getting for 14k it seems like a steal, but money is money! I hate to let this one go. What did I get myself into... ....

If you like the tractor and its right for you-buy it. You will find that its very difficult to find a good clean tractor at a significant $ discount. Every time I found a clean late model tractor, the price they wanted wasn't significantly different than new. Some folks ask more than the sale price of a new unit. ....

I agree with Jim. You can sure waste a lot of time trying to find a "good deal" on a used late model tractor. In the compact market it is even harder. They loose a little value when they go from "brand new" to "used"....but after that inital loss a popular make will keep the same value for year after year. Even the real ratty ones down't go down very much in price.
The tractor market doesn't have the wide price spread that the used car market does. ....
