I've had the tractor for approx 40hr (8 mo.) and the front pivot is broken off the casting. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The tractor will run if I don't hit a rut too hard. The spindle broke in sort of a rounded shape, so it will stay in if I'm cautious. 4 wheel drive does not work. I'm looking for a good parts department also.

A casting can sometimes be welded depending on a lot of things like where the break is, the type of metal, if there is room enough to get to the break, etc.
A check of Google should find you a dealer.

Frank, thats an area with everyone trying to steer with brakes that I'd say to replace the housing! I don't recommend it although some manufacturers promote it I've seen the results of it and it's not cheap in the long run.
To have the axle welded with cast it would never be as strong as a good casting should be as cast iron is quite brittle when welded. ....

Yes, I was taking a shot in the dark, just maybe giving the man an option to consider.
It's hard to recommend something when it isn't in front of you to look at. I've welded a bit of cast even an engine block or two but strenght wasn't thwe primary concern there, mainly keping the oil on the inside and the dirt on the outside.

I bought it with 600 hrs on it. I got a quote of $600 for the part which seemed OK, but it came with a $300 shipping charge--not OK. Hopefully there is something better. I got the dealer names from this site in Texas and Kansas and will try them. ....
