I was bush hogging today and noticed the temp gauge creeping up (2/3 off cold). This was unusual, it never runs over 1/3 off cold. I had cleaned the radiator screen from the last time I used it.
Anyway, I stopped to check the screen and it was clean. The transmission cooler was clean too. I just happen to notice the radiator (behind the trans cooler) was pretty nasty. I took an air hose and blew it out the best I could (it's a bugger to get too). After that, it ran about 1/3 off of cold.
This may help someone down the road. Even though the trans cooler and screen is clean, doesn't mean the radiator is.

Good call Billy. I surprised at how much stuff gets in there. After I cleaned mine the first time and saw how much can get packed in the raditator; I clean mine each time I use it with compressed air and pressure washing periodically. Cheap insurance. ....

Is water Ok, instead of air? I have a water tank, pump, and fire hose out at "the property", but no air. This year mud in NW PA has been much more of a problem than dust! As soon as I can figure out how, I'll add pictures. ....

Yeah, water should work fine. Be sure to remove the screen before cleaning. That'll let the water get to the radiator better. ....
