purchasing used rental 4200 vs new 4210

I'm debating between a used model year 2000 4200 (700 rental hours) with hst, loader and gannon for $13,300 (negotiable somewhat) and a new 4210 w/similar equipment for $20,400.
The reputable dealer (in Arizona) claims the rental fleet is well maintained and the tractor appears sound, but am I buying into a tractor that could be a load of problems or am I getting a good deal?
Also, am I missing out on anything important if I got the 4200 vs the 4210?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I'll be the first to admit I can learn something. What's a gannon?
Generally, as with anything used in a rental fleet, you've got to expect it's seen some abuse. If you anticipate keeping it for a few years and trading, then you'll probably be fine.

That is a $10 per hour discount compared to a new one. In my area you can expect $5 to $8 per hour for your trade in providing it looks good.Compared to the new one this is approx $10 per hour discount for the hours on it. Since this is a rentel machine I would like to see more of a discount myself. ....

I think of Gannon as a manufacturer of box blades and similar implements. Pretty good ones too I've heard.
Thinking of $ discounts per hour seems like a very good way to compare prices of used equipment and one that hadn't occurred to me. Always learning something around here.

Great idea on $/hr for used - I'll start looking at them that way!
What I call a gannon (could be using term incorrectly - I'm new at this) others may call a box scraper. It's a 3pt attachment that has reversible "teeth" that can be used to rip the ground in front of the box scraper.
Thanks for the thoughts!

I looked at 4200's 2 years ago, and just bought a 4210. I asked the dealer if there were any big differences, and he said that the new e-hydro trans is MUCH better than the previous hydro, and named half a dozen reasons, which I don't remember. ....

I purchased a JD4210 today and will take delivery Monday. I almost bought a Kubota B2910 but found that the JD was a much newer design. The price was about the same. I read through the owners manual today. The JD 42.. is a very sophisticated tractor. I hope all the latest JD gadgets are reliable. ....

I almost bought a B7800 until the dealers price went up a couple of hundred dollars. I went accross the road to the John deere dealer and bought a 4210. It was a lot more money but I think it is worth more. The B7800 really vibrated and looked cheap, the John Deere really seems smooth. ....
