I tried to tiller under my winter rye crop. My tiller is now clogged with a bunch of rye wrapped around it. Anybody know an easy way to clean it?

A linoleum knife works well for this- any hardware store should have one. Even better is a grape knife with serrated blade, but harder to find. ....

David - In similar situations, I've found a sharp utility knife to be very useful. Maybe not the easiest method, but it sure beats trying to unwrap the grass stems from the shaft. ....

We use a cotton hook.
Like a giant meat hook with a wooden "T" handle on it.
We have a home made machete thing.
16"x 1/4" with wooden handle.
Short and heavy chopper.
For the big outer stuff only.

The Wheat will break down far faster if you cut it witha mower first. If it was dryer chances are it wouuld break instead of wrapping. ....
