I've got a '98 4x2 Gator that I believe has a bad voltage regulator - the battery does not charge.
Two of the pins on the plug to the regulator have 15 Volts AC on them when the engine is running at idle, the voltage at the pins increases as the engine RPM increases.
With the Gator running and the battery disconnected there's no voltage at the leads going to the battery, that leads me to believe the voltage regulator is bad.
Can anyone confirm my guess before I go go about tracking down a replacement?
Thanks,
Kevin

Have you gotten this solved yet?
I could be totally wrong but don't think you can test it disconnected from the battery. Think it needs some load or demand on it. You might even get this with a light hooked up. Now I am not a pro on this but believe it to be correct. ....

Good point.
I've not done anything with it yet except charge the battery and then use it. Once charged, the battery is good for quite a while.
I'll see if I can rig up a load of some sort to test it with before I order a new regulator. ....
