Just a friendly reminder for those in colder climates. The grass is still dead and quite dry. It doesn't take much to start a brush fire. My neighbor set his grass on fire this noon. Winds gusting to 30 mph got it going fast. So be careful out there so you don't send off a spark and light up your whole place!!
If in doubt, wait until things green up.

We still have over of foot of snow cover. Can't wait to see grass,.... brown, green, or otherwise. ....

I took a look and he bruned up at least 3 acres of prairie grass. There was a big fire in southern Iowa that threatened homes. Just something to keep in mind. I was lucky as the wind was blowing away from my place and I was home. I could have done something. Others may not be so lucky. ....
