Looking for information from anyone on any problems with the Boomer 1630. I have gone threw 2 motors (123hrs on first, 175hrs on next) and my boomer is dead. Total....304 hours!!! Rod went through block on both occassions due to faulty torgue on cap nuts, in one cylinder. Tractor is out of warranty now, and I am dealing with "customer service". Their ad says the Boomer can blast through anything???? Just its own block so far for me.
Please email me with any information, no matter how small. I was one of the first to own one in Manitoba...and I want to prevent anyone else from making this mistake.

Not a good story and I hope CS comes up with a remedy. I haven't heard of this type of problem with NH before--nor the broken TC cases also discussed here for that matter.
If the problem is wrong torque on the rod bolts that's an issue that to me goes outside of normal warranty coverage. It is not a manufacturing defect. It might be thought of as negligence during assembly. I'd make a solid documented case that the engines were delivered improperly assembled (although that might be tough to do),that required maintenance was performed and that operation was within recommended limits.
I might make noises about 'alternative action' if CS comes on rigid about warranty coverage. I'd also keep this Board informed. The Board played a role in getting JD over its denial of 4000-series axle problems some years back. ....

well jbagg i think that you are full of it. i work for a nh dealer. After the first engine you would have gotten
another warrenty on the new engine. Second if you went through 2 engines with the exact same problem, that tells me there may be some oporater abuse or neglect. How long since your last engine was installed? Did a you have it done by your dealer? What did you do for breakin? What weight oil are you using? ....

Well I guess I would need some more information before I could recomnend action.
These type of problems can be difficult to find. A friend has a GM truck with a Duramax and 6 speed. The transmission keeps loosing the front bearing. It is on the third round and as it is 4x it costs a lot to repair. He is fighting with GM now.
Did they replace the whole engine both times or did they just replace the block and rebuild with the non broken parts? Is it gear or hydro?

I don't know if warranty policies are the same in Canada and the U.S. but maybe a new engine doesn't restart the warranty--seems like it should though.
I'm interested in seeing how the problem unfolds. Since I'm a Ford owner also in Canada, I have an interest in how NH supports its abandoned product lines. I'm also interested in how the explanation of inadequately torqued rod nuts was determined. ....

a new engine will not reset the warrenty it is like when you buy a new starter or altornater they warrenty the componate.so only the engine would be cover normally from six months to two years depending on where the engine was purchased. I'm not sure on nh engines do tho the fact that we have never had to replace a compact engine before. ....
