I am still looking for something that is large enough for field mowing to retire my MF65, yet small enough to allow me to mow the lawn on my hard clay soil.
What is the difference in these two machines? What is the difference in price on the shuttle shift units?

The MX5000 is most like the Massey that you have now but does offer a type of shuttle shift that you have to clutch. The Grand series is a deluxe version with rubber floor mats and reduced foot vibration. It also offers more transmission options. They both offer independent pto that is hydraulically activated. The 5030 has an adjustable steering wheel. ....

I guess the mX5000 is a little longer. The notes state you can use a 7ft cutter. Would you recommend a 7ft with the L5030? ....

When I get to the bush hogs I prefer the SQ84T and have them working on tractors as small as the 3400HST with the owners satisfied with the horsepower as well as the handling of the mower. ....
