Where I live we have plenty of Deer and plenty of stuff for them to eat. That said since my house is in the woods they seem to enjoy eating anything that my wife puts our for them to munch on even if it is supposedly Deer proof!

That's why I have surrouned the house with ornamental grasses that they definitely do not eat even when it goes to straw in the winter. My wife and daughter keep saying Dad we want to get rid of the grasses and put in shrubs and flowers. But why mess with success.

Anyway my wife and I bought 5 burning bushes last week, when we go them home she put them on the front porch where the rain could not hit them. Puzzled I asked her why?

She said so the Deer don't eat them. Everyone in my area has burning bushes, and I don't see the typcial lolly pop deer effect on theirs.

Well just went out on the porch, and yes the Deer came and ate the tops right off the new plants still in their pots.

Ornamental grass is not such a bad idea after all!

Dennis;
Something we've been doing for a couple years that seems to work.
If you don't mind the smell of Maragolds, we been planting some in and around the garden for a couple years and the deer haven't bothered it, before that it was like "free lunch".
A neighbor lady who is quite a gardener told us about it and it does seem to work. ....
