Hi all, this is my first post so let me know if I have posted in the wrong place. I am recently in the market for a compact tractorand need to ask a question. Northern Hydraulics has a NorTrac 20 and 25 hp compact tractor for sale. Who is the manufacturer of these tractor and are they worth looking at for someone that plans on using it for very light duty? Recent injuries have caused me to look at a small tractor with a loader to do small chores around the property. These will include stone and dirt manuvering and snow removal. Thanks, Steve

Steve; I have now idea who actually makes the NorTrac. But… you may want to check out the Kubota BX for the uses you mentioned. Orange, Blue or Green cost more than the NorTracs, but they can provide you with HST, and you'll know who actually built it. I noticed that the NorTrac's give you a 1-year parts warranty. Guess that means that you would have to do the diagnosis and labor yourself. ....

I'm not certain, but my impression is that they are one of the Chinese tractors. There are some discussions on some of the Chinese made tractors in the archives that would be good to read. In general, my impression is that if you take the bargain price, then you take some questionable durability, and not much dealer or parts support along with it--maybe not such a bargain. ....
