Rear bagger weight sufficient for FEL?: My guess is hat it's load dependent, but personally, I wouldn't want to be carrying the bagger around when using the FE for most work. Tire ballast (liquid or wheel weights) probably better. I have wheel weights, and add a 4' blade when doing serious work.<br>

Suckow; Per my LA211 Owner's Manual, FEL net weight is 430 lbs. Per my BX Owner's Manual, towing capacity (maximum trailer load capacity) is 1,765 lbs for both the 1800 and 2200. The price sounds good to me.

Steve; I have now idea who actually makes the NorTrac. But� you may want to check out the Kubota BX for the uses you mentioned. Orange, Blue or Green cost more than the NorTracs, but they can provide you with HST, and you'll know who actually built it. I noticed that the NorTrac's give you a 1-year parts warranty. Guess that means that you would have to do the diagnosis and labor yourself.

Chuck; A couple of questions. What are the specifications (bucket size, digging depth, reach)? Is it owner setup-able? Do you ship? And, if so, what is the ballpark price (recognizing that shipping cost is mileage dependent)? Thanks.

The fuel tank problems are known. Mine just went back to the dealer for the second time (first time was the main tank last February). <br>

Yes, it's annoying, but I take it with a grain of salt. Since this is the first year of US release, I suspected some issues would arise. Knowingly took that risk when I purchased it. Common problems: The tank leak and the 3-pt spread. The newer ones have a re-designed 3-pt hitch.

There is at least one upstate New Yorker, who has a BX with a snow blower, who has posted on http://www.tractorbynet.com. It can easily handle 5 acres mowing. As for the price, looking at Carver Equipment as a good indicator (they have very competitive prices, http://carverequipment.com/), it shows that the same package would cost ($9,995 + $3,238). So the $12k looks good.

Not familiar with the 400 Cat-0, but be careful. It's not only shaft diameter and spline configuration. You also have to find out what are the RPM's and direction of spin it was built for. A JD dealer may be able to tell you.

One guess is that possibly the rental PTO shafts are pre-cut to the lengths of specific tractors. The BX would require a shorter shaft.

What's amazing about that customer satisfaction is that there are more, not less, Kubota subcompacts sold! Thus, Kubota has a larger sample population (for compacts). I had heard this one before, but I couldn't find an independent validation, util recently. Note the third sentence of the article:

I have 30 hours on my BX2200. About half the hours loader work, the rest rear blade, middle buster and mowing. A lot of user experiences (all positive) can be found searching both here and at "www.tractorbynet.com/tractortalk/". They recently changed forums, so search the old forum off their main menu. To sum it up, to date I have no regrets. It has performed more than I expected.

I love my BX, but it depends on too many factors in what is meant by a hilly property. (% grade of the inclines it would have to handle. Amount of time spent on the inclines. Need to turn while on the steeper inclines?).

Ah, now I see the problem. Picked up 2 new toys today, a middle buster and a 4' rear blade for my BX. (The 5' blade I had used was on loan from the dealer. It was great, but I really didn't want something that large or heavy). Anyway, after spreading-to-the-max, it still would not allow enough space to go over both pins. Then I remember that the pins go into balls, not holes, which can rotate any direction. So I skewed the blade (slightly angled) and inserted onto one side. Then I aligned it with the second hole, and it's on! Now, granted, this would not work for heavier implements, no way could you move (angle) them. For a mower or a tiller, seems like the reverse-one or reverse both suggestions would work (depending on size and weight). BTW. One quirk I had was the TSC equipment I purchased is that it is Cat-1, but the upper holes only are Cat-2. Had to go back and buy a longer Cat-1 pin and spacers to attach the top link. No big deal.

I agree, Jim. Did one year of research and shopping before buying mine. Concluded that ANY compact (new or used) is a wiser investment than a $10K garden tractor.

Some company! (Problem with being one of the first). Went through the same decision process. Have had my BX2200 since January, and so far (9 hours on it), I'm 100% satisfied. Have only done rear blade work so far, to move lots of snow and some dirt. They are picking it up to put a loader on it this Friday - it was back-ordered. Now, if we can only convince some people that really is a small compact, and not a garden tractor! Cost is relative. Cost of doing business in the US is higher (wages, infrastructure, etc). A new compact in the USA probably runs a typical owner (my guess - not based on actual statistics) 20% to 33% of their annual household salary. What is the ratio in Asia?

When I was at TSC last fall, I was curious why several of the rear blades out front were tagged "Cat 0" when they appeared Cat-1. The guy inside told me that they were generally light enough for Cat-0, and the pins were reversible. Be aware, though, that pins may be too large, even if reversed. TSC has a good definition of Cat's on their web site (follow the link). Best advised to measure and determine implement weight before buying.
