Want a used tractor for owner built home/landscaping.Plan to build on wooded 3 acres in SW Colorado. Need front end loader to lift bucked-up trees 30 in diameter (have bad back). Want to move/roll rocks no larger than 15-20 in diamter. Soft soil/gravel/road base moving. Snow removal for 200' of dirt road. Q1 Thinking about a used 16-20 Hp 4wd. Budget $4-8k What do you suggest?Q2 We have Kubota, Deere, MF dealers in area but all used prices seem to be high locally. Thinking about searching in New Mexico or Texas for better used deals.Q3 The MF tractors seemed to be a good deal. We want to resell tractor after construction/lanscaping. What about resale.

From the jobs you listed, i tkink you be better off with a older farm tractor , like a Ford 3000 or 4000. I think you'd have better luck finding a suitable tractor going east into the corn belt. There are a lot more used tractors to pick from there. ....

You are going to be a lot better off with an older farm tractor with a loader.Something like an old "M" with a farmhand loader. Expect to pay 3 to 4K andit will be a rough old beast that will do this kind of work without a sweat.Lots of them in your area. A 30" diameter tree - even sawn into 3 foot sections - is seriously heavy.I know because I removed 3 downed cottonwoods with my tractor last year. Roger ....

Prices here in Colorado are high. If you're willing to go on a little roadtrip, try Missouri or North Carolina. I got bids for up to $ 2800 less out of state (on o new 4 WD Kubota L3010 GST with loader, just to keep things in perspective).I'd rather just buy locally, but at those rates I can't afford not to shop outside of Colorado. Good Luck! ....
