Mitsubishi MT160 hydraulic oil fill line

we fixed a hydraulic leak on our old (1975 ?) Mitsubishi 17 hp tractor model MT160. Now we can't see a fill line on the case and wonder how much hydraulic fluid to put in. We have put in 1 gal already and there is a lot of room left.

I have no idea what type of checking method your tractor used but a gallon of hyd is not that much in even a small tractor.

Have you never check the fluid in it before?

Look for a dipstick any where, underseat or floor board or such. Look for about 1/4 pipe plug on side of trans for fill level. Look for a sight guage on side of transmission. Can not think of any other method.

There is a check bolt on the left hand side of the transmission (left side when your sitting on the tractor). Look for the check bolt mid way down the side of the transmission housing. Take the check bolt out and keep filling until it starts to seep out of the weep hole.

Once it seeps out, put the check bolt back into place. Once this is done, you are at the correct fluid level. Do not overfill as it needs to breath.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, Your message did get sent to spam and I finally thought to look there. I keep the tractor in a barn down the road but will go search again for dip stick. I think that it is a problem with not enough oil.

Hello
I have a mitubishi D1300FD
I am looking at the left side of the trans case, about 2/3 up is a bolt that looks like it doesn't do anything. Would this be the same type of fill indicator hole?

thanks

Yes it IS,

just open it up and fill at the top inlet till there begins a bit coming out this plug and then put the plug back in.
Just like ncw said.
