Has anyone tried this oil? I have a 4100 and a F735 and would like easier starts in the winter. It is full synthetic and reasonable in price from my dealer.

I haven't used that brand, but I had a 4100 and used synthetic oil with good success.

I would explicitly trust any oil marketed by Deere. They do their homework in this area.

I have been using the 15W-40 Plus 50 Synthetic Blend oil with very good results. I buy my oil by the 55 gallon drum so the price is better. This batch was $1.28 a quart. The 0W-40 Plus 50 is a very good oil made by Chevron for John Deere. I think you will have very good results as well. How much does your dealer charge you for the 0W-40 Plus 50?

Looking at your profile, I would assume you have block heaters on your equipment where possible? If not; these will make a huge difference in starts, and warm up times and are fairly easy to install.

I use 0w-30 Mobil 1 in winter and 10w-30 in summer (mobil 1)
on my 4100 and Cub 3204
..the 0w is great in the cold winter, real quick starts...

Thanks guys, I was fairly sure that any oil from JD would be suitable, just was leery of a 0W in a diesel. I do have a block heater in the 4100, none in the F735 as it gets put away for the season by end of Nov. My dealer wants $22.00cdn for a 4 litre jug which compares well to $32.00cdn for Mobil 1 and $35.00cdn for Shell Rotella at jobbers.

The correct reading of the numbers tells us that this is a 40 weight oil with 0 weight winter flow properties, not vice-versa.

It is just what the doctor ordered for your engine.

Here is some of John Deere's poop on their 0W-40 oil. It has a pour point 21 degrees lower than the 15W-40 Plus 50.

"My dealer wants $22.00cdn for a 4 litre jug"........... Grab a bunch of that stuff. You can use it in everything.

I got a good price on Rotella synthetic and stocked up. It goes in the lawn mower, the Camry, the Tundra, the tractor, the RTV.... everything but the chainsaw, and I buy synthetic 2 cycle oil for that.

Thanks guys, think I will pick up some tommorrow as it would seem that this one oil can replace all except 2 stroke for me as well. Simplifies my "stock". It seems to me, by reading the specs, that I should bee able to use this year round. Any thoughts on that?
