The 4310 has 32 engine horse power, the 4210 has 28. The 4310 hydraulic pump pumps 8.6 gpm and the 4210 pumps 7. The hydraulic pressure is 2500 psi on the 4310 the 4210 is 2125 psi. The 4310 will take a 420 or 430 loader the 4210 will only take the 420. The 4310 will also take either the 47 or 48 hoe and the 4210 will only handle the 47. I asked a couple dealers about the price difference in the 4310 and the 4410, it was about $1600.00, they also said it is about the same difference between all the models. Good luck.

Just wondering Chief does your mower have a 7Iron decal on the left side? Not that that means much I just never seen one on a 72". Thanks for the info.

I don't know if you are aware but, mini excavators are usually on rubber tracks.

Good luck with the hoe, it would be a lot of fun. I have some fence rows that could sure use a hoe. Not that I am in the position to buy anything else right now but rather than buy a hoe for the 4310 my dream would be either a used combination or a mini excavator. Seems like a hoe could do a lot of damage to a compact tractor, but can't have it all.

So did the 318 etc. garden tractors. The guy that farms my ground has a 4560 and I am pretty sure it has a steel hood.

A lot of people seem to be scared of the plastic, I think it is a good idea. I know a Mack truck isn't a compact tractor but my Dad bought a Mack new in 1979 and it pulled a dump trailer for the 15 years He owned it, it had a fiberglass hood on it and when He sold the truck the hood was still in good shape. A dump truck has a very hard life especially in my area (Northwest Indiana) in and out of steel mills, harsh winters and rough construcion sites. With all of the flexing and bouncing a truck does you might think that hood would break in half but it held up fine. Just my opinion.

One way to get a loader to dig is a spade bucket (pointed cutting edge) with teeth.

I don't know how to link the page here but I found some nice looking grapple buckets by ATI. Go to preseeder.com, they offer a kit form of a bolt on grapple or a heavy duty bucket with grapple welded on. They are not the kind with tines (for leaving dirt behind) but they look like they would be very usefull.

Before I placed my order I went and talked to three diffrent John Deere dealers, one had a tractor in stock and the other two would have to order it. Well I ended up where I did because of price but to tell the truth I also liked the fact the tractor would be ordered and not already on the lot. I didn't know how long the tractor at the one dealer had been there in the weather, I know this is not a big deal to some guys but I literally don't plan on the tractor sitting out even one night once it is mine so why not get one that has never been out, plus how many people have climbed all over that one? So anyways I'll have to get some patience and wait.

That would be pretty hard to do because a 1936 Allis Chalmers WC did not have a hydraulic pump. You either have a WD(1948-1953) or a WD45(1953-1957) or somebody did some home made engineering.

Thanks again guys, I did go with the large R4s, mainly for ground clearance with the mower deck. I thought about going with a 3pt finish mowewr instead of the mmm, but I didn't like the idea of looking back all the time and not being able to trim as easy.

Know what you mean about cutting the hood, was thinking about letting dealer install this when they put the mower and loader on. If they screw up they will have to fix it. Thanks.

I am going to be buying a 4310 ,430 loader and a 72" mmm very soon. Deere list R4 tires and R4 "Larger" tires, does any body know the sizes of the two and will the "Larger" clear a 72" deck? Also does anybody know if and when Deere is going to offer a 72" deck in 7iron? Thanks for any help.
