how far do I fill it? I did find the screw on the side, but not sure how much to use.

Say, I just found this older post -- I have a similar fuel leak. But I can't find the source! I may have to take all that stuff off to find it. I have had mice build nests in there, I know that.

But here is my real question -- you mentioned you took off the radiator overflow tank. Mine appears to have a crack in it, about half way up on the back. Who knows how that happened. But, when I try to loosen the bolt that holds it on, it just spins. The stud goes through the gas tank...how did you get yours off??

Hardwood thank you again I just went out and pulled both pedals back and started up the tractor no error code so got on and she went forwards stopped and went to go into rev. and same thing as before pulled back on both pedals and went in rev. it appears that the pedals are hanging up Thanks again for your help I don't think I'm screwed after all.

I appreciate the prices and locations on where to get a top link. i have found cat 1 top links from 13" to approx 24" long closed up (eyelets run all the way in). so if i could get a approx mesurment of a top link that is on a 55 series tractor that would be greatly appreciated. if i dont matter what the length is then ill just get anyone. thanks for your help.

My dealer wants 2200.00 and I put it together and install on tractor. There are skid shoes ( extra money? JD book makes it sound like they come with it. will ask dealer Monday ) and wings for the side if you want to extend wider for snow, not dirt work though. Or it would have to be top soil or something light. I mainly need it to push dirt back in the ditch after I trench. Chances are I will just get the thing anyway but just was interested to see if anyone had one. Anyone have a used one or maybe a JD dealer willing to ship?

How do you guys get these prices!? After I bought mine I found the tractor sites and about got sick, then really mad. Here there is one dealer in town. The next dealer is an hour and 1/2 away
and is owned by the same people. The nearest after that is 4 hours away. Here are our prices, take it or leave it. 4310 w 430 loader - 21,500.00. 4410 - 22,500.00. I am only hoping that when I someday ( no plans now ) sell my 4400 the dealer is holding up prices so I can come out at least OK. When I shop again there will be blood in my eyes and I will drive hours away if I have to. BTW, totally satisfied with the 4400.

What does it mean when a spec sheet says that a 3ph lift capacity is measured at 24" behind link ends? What are the link
ends? I have a pallet fork made by Rankin, and it mounts on a 3ph. It looks like a set of forks you would see on a forklift.
I tried to see how many blocks my JD 4400 could lift. It will lift 32 60# blocks about half way, not all the way up though. That figures
out to 1920 lbs, plus the forks, about 125 lbs, and the oak pallet, about 40?lbs. Estimated total approximately 2085 lbs.
My owners manual says 2200 lbs is the rated lift capacity. So, where is that magic center point? And who is Rankin? Can't find
them anywhere on the web?

Maybe someone can help explain this cost business. I checked on a front snow blower for my JD4400 and was quoted 4000.00! 4000.00! Just what the heck do they make these things out of, gold? I probably shouldn't be surprised looking at the price one has to pay for a tractor but wow. Blades, plate steel, bearings, drive lines, oh, and don't forget paint. I am new to this and please forgive my ignorance but is a Pronovost front or rear?

Thanks for the info. JD 4400 has a frame mount, not 3ph mount for backhoe. The 3ph is used to simply lift it onto the plate steel mounts bolted to the tractor, then lower the weight of the hoe onto the 1" pins you slide in when all is lined up. Once you figure it out it is fairly quick to install, really fast to remove. So you don't think I damaged the 3ph by working the hoe with the weight hanging on it instead of the pins?

What would happen if you dug it out and fixed it, then pumped a slurry in under the slab. Aren't there companies that do concrete leveling etc. That way you don't have to compact it.

Thanks for the input Jeff. I have read the archives, made some phone calls, and stopped by the JD dealer and talked to the sales rep and the service manager. I'll cut to the quick. Mine left the factory 5/00. There are no recalls, 1-800-537-3565 ( they tell me ). Also, I was assured by the dealer that as of this mfg date all known bugs ( of any magnitude ? ) are worked out. They were aware of most defects I brought up, and did point out they were on first production runs. But something interesting popped up. They "wondered" if Kubota "people" ( employees ) post on JD sights casting dispersions upon JD products, and, who knows, JD "people" post on Kubota sights and do the same, exagerating or fabricating problems to make the others product look bad. Who knows. Because of a combination of reasons I picked the JD and am going to go forward without worrying about it. I've got lots to do with my 4400 and am going at it with a gusto. BTW, I do like the tractor and didn't want a dark cloud to hang over it. I think I have satisfied that concern to myself.

Just bought a JD 4400 with a 48 hoe. How can I tell if I am getting all the power out of the hoe? Rented the exact same thing before I bought and my feeling is I am not getting the same power out of it. Any test I can do?
