Had a problem with my regulator too. A shop checked it out an told me it had to be replaced. A month later, they came up with one. Looked the same, but when I pulled it in, the oil light came on! Plus it was not charging. Brought it back to the shop. They wouldn't take it back, or give me a refund until I brought the tractor in!!!Needless to say, that was impossible. So I'm out $70!!!
Now I just charge the battery every now an then.

Try Shoup, or Schoup, I don't remember for sure the spelling but surely they have a web site by now. I used to get their parts catalog every spring, and did order a few things from them. I had a Massey disc, the only Massey machine I owned and do remember their blades and bearings from the Msssey dealer were high priced.

I'm not a veteran commuter, just a year or so after high school I drove 60 miles round trip to a job, after that about three miles to care for livestock on a "Distant" farm.
But this isn't the topic you guys are going after, yes we tend to follow our kids when we retire so we are content to stay in Icebox, Iowa. Four of our five kids have settled within the Cedar Rapids, Marion metro where we are now, the fifth is near the Twin Cities, that's about five hours as the Chevy goes.
Several of our friends and old classmates that are still sucking air have gone south, we considered it but Kids and Grandkids tend to keep us close. At risk of upsetting those in the south, I just never cared that much for snakes, alligators and big bugs, we have little bugs up here but they all freeze to death in the winter. when it gets too cold or too hot I just don't go out.
To each his or her own I guess.

Another downfall of apartment living is there is no room to stash a years worth of canned goods and a giant water tank. I guess when the end comes I'll have to be one of the first ones to go. Fortunately we have a nuke power plant about 10 miles as the crow flies, so when she goes kaboom, I'll just evaporate, not lay and kick for a week.

Have you noticed the odor of a clutch burning? A badly slipping clutch will smell somewhat like hot brakes depending on the type of clutch lining.
Have you checked the clutch pedal freeplay? That measurment should be in your owners manual and surely in the service manual. If you caught it in time an adjustment might save the day.

I don't know anything about variable pressure pumps, but I do know that the standard on/off submersibles are so reliable you almost forget you have one. I've had them in two different wells, I don't remember the horsepower anymore, but the first one is down about 80ft. and has not been pulled since new in 1971. The well on the other property is 500 ft. deep with the pump hanging at about 400 +ft. It's been there 15+ years and never been pulled. Like was said put in a good sized tank with a standard submersible and unless lightning or something happens you will be trouble free for years.

I have a Yanmar 1500 bought second hand, which I use to mow about 4 acres... The sheep tend to the other four, of the eight acres. I have a Big Bee 48" finish mower deck that I use(came with the tractor), but shouldn't be relevant to my questions. One problem has been persistent since the purchase...<br>

It doesn't allow for easy raising and lowering to a specific height. I have to move the lever to the raise all the way back to raise the deck, and then move it forward slightly when the deck reaches the desired height. Lowering the deck presents the same problem in reverse.<br>

The other problem is a new development. I've been having trouble setting the up/down speed to something usable. It always drops at a fast rate. Doesn't seem to matter how I set the hydraulic stop.<br>

There is also a knob beside the seat, in approximately the same area as the hydraulics and the knob is similar to the one in front of the seat. But, no idea what that knob is supposed to control.<br>

I do have a manual in English, but it hasn't been any help with these problems.<br>

More recently, I can no longer get the deck to go up more than 1/4" to 1/2". The hydraulic stop control knob is open. But, closing it doesn't seem to have any effect, whereas it used to control the lift speed, but not the drop speed. I've checked the fluid level on the dip stick, which appears to be correct... Though not sure if there are conditions needed(ie hot, idling, with it in the lift, or lower position, etc).<br>

Thanks, I will try those fixes. I did find a small crack on the starter solinoid, I orderd a new one. It was back-ordered and I did not mark all the terminals, I thought it would be a quick trip to town. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the solinoid? It is a Nipoonso starte (not jd). Thank you all for the help!

Hi Jonathan, yes how time flies....

I would highly recommend that you throttle all of the way down before pushing in on the clutch when your PTO is engaged. The mechanic that split my tractor has worked on Masseys, IH's, you name it, it's all he's been doing for forty years. He had an awful lot to say regarding the weak design of the PTO on the 7305. Two parts that just loosely engage each other....that clicking sound is these two parts basically rounding each other off. The failure of this design is not if, but when.

Good luck with your coffee. I'll soon start envying you when old man winter starts blowing wind chills into the negative 50's or worse here in MN. I'm guessing you didn't need the optional block heater that I couldn't operate without.

Hey folks,

I too needed a manual for my year 2000 model 7305 went to that link and it said no manual found. Dealer no help. I then called MTD and asked for the manual, they told me it was no longer available. No longer available? You must be kidding I said! I have 250 hours on this $18,000 machine and you can't supply me with a service manual? Unbelievable! Had to download one online in PDF. MTD cares absolutely nothing about customer service.

Any of you thinking of buying a Cub Cadet 7305 take note: mine had a PTO clutch failure at only 250 hours. I talked to a service rep at MTD just today. He said that there's nothing they can do to help me, that it was probably due to exterior equipment problems i.e. my mower. Hogwash! This thing is a piece of garbage, although exremely expensive garbage! $18k down the drain.
