I have a JD 1070 4WD tractor, and I am looking to install a backhoe attachment to it. I have talked to the dealer and he has a new model 8B that fits my tractor. This unit uses a subframe to attach. I also have found on the internet a company that builds/sells a Power King 9000 that mounts primarily on the 3 point hitch, with some additional support. They told me that the JD brand attachment is built by Woods Equipment and has problems with the metal components cracking from stress and the way they were made. Has anyone had any experience with any of these units? What are the pros/cons for each, they are both about the same price, but the Power King unit comes with a "power thumb" attachment for the bucket and 2 different size buckets of my choice.

Just drawing on my experience of putting a JD 7 backhoe on my 755 - granted a smaller machine, but now seeing the way the subframe distributes the forces to the entire frame of the tractor and how much force there is when I bounce the tractor around with the hoe, I would NEVER want to put a backhoe on the three point hitch. As far as problems with the JD, I don't know but I would be skeptical. ....

I have a three point backhoe. Although it is not the one you are talking about,it is a heavy duty although small hoe. The frame mount is by far the better unit. The person who was knocking the JD loader sounds like a good salesman to stayaway from. Roger L ....

Kelley makes 3 backhoes that will mount on a JD1070. The B600 (6'6" dig depth) is 3 point mounted. The B750 (8') has an optional frame kit. The B851 (9') requires a frame kit. I'm allowing a 10% discount all 3 backhoes. Feel free to contact me for more details ....
