JD 48 hoe experience

I am lookng for a high 30 or mid 40 hp tractor with backhoe and have come across the JD 4610 with a 48 hoe which seems to offer much of what I am looking for (also considering the Kubota L4630 with 9' Woods or Kubota hoe). I understand that the JD hoe hookup for the 48 is a breeze but someone suggested that the integration of the hoe and mount to the tractor is not as rugged as one might find on a Woods or Kubota hoe. I don't anticipate beating the daylights out of this thing but want to be sure I have the right combo. Does anyone have any experience with putting the JD 4610 (or anything smaller JD) and the 48 hoe through its paces over time?

I've got a JD 4300 with a 47 hoe, It's been great. Probably have 60 hours on the hoe. It is a piece of cake to take the hoe on/off. JD has, by far, the easiest setup for a sub-frame mounted hoe. See if you can check the on/off operation at a local dealer, they may have a tractor there with a hoe on it. ....

I also have a 47 backhoe on a 4310. I agree with butzkeg, it is great. On and off in less than 5 minutes. I also looked at the Woods 7500. I cant say if the Woods mounting is more rigid, but it is with out a doubt a third party looking rig where as the JD was designed to work as an integrated system. The Woods sub frame is also very large and will require much more space to store when the backhoe is removed from the tractor. Don’t get me wrong, I love my new Woods rotary cutter and many of their other products. The Woods back hoe was several hundred less but the first time you install or remove the JD you will know you made the best dicession (at least in the one regard). As for operation, I have about 10 hours on mine and no problems to report. Good luck. ....

I have a 48 hoe on a 4600. I have taken out several extremely large stumps (some of which also required a shovel and a chainsaw to get at the tap root) and some very large trees roots and all. I have about 40 hours on the hoe and have had it off/on my tractor about 6 times. It is a breeze. I don't know how I got along with out this unit before. ....
