I am looking to buy a tractor and would like any information or advice on weather to go with JD PowrReverser or Hydro. I plan on using my tractor for Loader work, Mowing, and rear blade work both at home and on some side jobs for pay. Any information on value vs repair cost, how long they will last before repairs, easy of use for jobs I have described. Is it worth the extra cost of Hydro or is powrReverser the way to go. I have been looking at 4500 and 4600. I also looked at 4300 Hydro. Cost is important but I need a good long lasting Transmission that will hold up. Any information would help!

I haven't used a hydro much but I guess it depends on what you are going to do.If whatever it is involves breaking something loose with the bucket...like hard ground or rocky soil I would think more towards the gear with reverser. I haveused these and sure do like them. From what I hear, either one will hold up. Roger L. ....

I like the Hydro.. I just bought a 4200 today.. I had an 855 hydro for twelve years, never a problem with it.. I bought it back then for $14,700, traded it today, I got $12,200 for it.. WOW .. I was so happy.. now I have a better machine with a twelve thousand dollar balance.. with loader and mower deck.. Hydro is the way to go! trust me.. I really work these things... ....

we have a powerreverser and it was a little stiff because the pin inside came loose and that forced the handle to break. but the reverser is really nice for loader work and when you are in a hurry. ....
