Apologies for the long post--but I'm new at this, and about to spend more fora lawn mower than the first few cars I bought new!Getting close to buying a B7500, v. the B2410/2710. Have a JD110 (garden tractor) manual and a JD455 (big garden tractor) hydro, but no experience/knowledge on compacts otherwise. Appreciate any response to my remaining questions:Manual or HST: Even after reading all the posts here willing to accept the inconvenience of the manual for the durability. That said, need to understand exactly what the operation and negatives are. With the manual you pick the gear based on desired final ground speed-then it's clutch for starts only. 1 gear takes you from stop to full speed for that gear-including 6th, correct?? If correct, clutching on turns is not required either (end of mowing row for example)?? With the loader, same thing: Clutch to get going (lower gear I'd guess) and that's it?? Hence other than using a 'lazy foot' no difference than the HST really??Any other effect on PTO operation?? Assume I can use rear and mid, or rear, or mid. at any ground speed (incl. Idle) without using clutch??Belly Deck: Assume it's hydraulically controlled to raise and lower the deck for transport (6" or so)??Hydraulics: The 2410/2710 show front and rear, the 7500 only front. What limitations does the front only result in-is there an 'add on later' kit for rear if I need it??Loader: Shows a LA302 (660# lift, weighs 5 # more) and a LA 272 (595# lift) available, preferences??Optional Front Blade: Does it have power angle??Length: Shows as 90" w/o 3 pt., I have an 8' trailer. Is the 3 pt. hardware easily removed to trailer, or a hassle?? 2410/2710 vs. B7500 Frame: Same frame?? Noticed they show different track widths, is it just in the front suspension design??Price: 2710 is about $3K higher-worth it for a cost stretched buyer?Thanks in advance! Great site here!

I am trying to make the same decision, but am also considering a NH TC25D.
Regarding Kabota, the 7500 does now have position control on the lift, while the 2410 ant 2710 do. I am agonizing over this since the 2410 is 3hp and $2,000 more than the 7500. I am waiting for more responses on this and the tractorbynet boards. Good luck. ....

Hi - not sure what brand we're talking about here, but I have a J-D 770 with standard, and you're correct about selecting gear for speed, then staying in it matching ground speed with required pto speed. Takes a couple of mows to get the right combo, but essentially very simple. No need to clutch on turns unless clearance is too tight for the speed. Mine has a live pto - meaning the clutch pressed about 1/2 way down will stop the tractor, but the pto continues to run. at this point you can reverse or change gear and not affect mower speed. any other questions, feel free to e-mail. ....

I've had a B2400 for about a year now (practically same as B2410). The B2700 wasn't available when I was looking. Don't know much about the B7500. I was looking for the smallest, lightest tractor that I could get by with and I haven't missed the 3 extra hp of the B2700 yet. It does everything I need to do and then some. It's a great little machine. You've pretty much got the gears idea down. The B2400 only comes with Hydro and if you are doing any amount of loader work I would recommend it. I have standard on the ag tractors at the farm but the hydro is much more convenient. I have the LA351 loader with a 770# capacity. It's the most expensive wheel barrow I've ever had but it works great, I wouldn't be without it, and it comes off and on in about two minutes without tools. I don't know about the front blade, I use a rear box blade so I can't help there but with the loader you'll have the hydraulics set up there for adjustment anyway and getting an additional SCV on the rear shouldn't be a problem. I don't have a belly deck. I've got a 3-pt rear dischrge mower. The belly mower would have been more convenient going around all the trees but was more expensive and tougher to put off and on. I also bush hog a 10 acre pasture and need the ground clearance. I don't know if raising and lowering the deck is hydraulic or not but I would think that it is. A 5'or 6' deck isn't the lightest of things to crank up and down with a lever. The impliments mount pretty easy but it's a lot less hassle to get a 16' trailer. I think your 8' trailer will be too light and be overmatched if you have to transport the tractor and impliments in 2 seperate trips. You also have the problem of getting the tools off the trailer at one one place while the tractor is at another. I know people that think that the $3000 for 3 hp is worth it but as I said, I've never done anything that that I've really missed it but I do have access to 2 bigger ag tractors if needed. I hope this helps but depending on what you want to do with it, couldn't you dress up that JD455 do most of the jobs you have lined up. Don't get me wrong, I had a 18hp JD lawn tractor before and it's no compact but you could probably do it for a lot less than the cost of buying a new Kubota. It just depends what you want to use it for. ....

RE the hydraulic outlets, I was just at the orange dealer today driving a B2710 and asked about the F/R hydraulics. Per this dealer the loader hooks to the front hydraulics, the rear is a pressure and return capped conn. for hooking a valve set to. Not like you could hook a 3 point w/hydr to these conns. you need a valve and quick connects. ....
