Looking at buying a JD 2240 1977 with 5240 hours with front end loader for $10,000. What is the value of this tractor? I know the user. The tractor has had mutiple users including myself.

If it's a four wheel drive it's a good buy if it's right. If it's a two wheel drive you should be in the 8500 dollar range. ....

I think 10K would be top price for a 2240.I just sold a 82
2640 w/240 loader(quick detach,joy stick,self leveling bucket)and collar shift trans for 11k.Shuttle shift would be nice
for loader work.I bought a 4310 4wd to take the place of the
2640,2640 was very clumsy compared to 4310 also 4310 has
much better hydralics.If your buying the 2240 for loader
work,I would rather have a compact tractor with 4wd and
hst.But if your doing bush hog,plow or disk work the 2240
is a good choice.Most farmers have traded there loader tractors for skid loader around here (Iowa).Good Luck ....

I left a message last night about my JD 2240. I failed to mention that it is a 1981, completely rebuilt engine with two brand new 16.9 by 28 tires. This tractor has front loader and box scraper. It's all painted up nice. ....

I bought a JD 2240 a couple of years age, it had less than 1200 hours on it and always housed inside. I paid $5300.00 for it. It was in Ohio, I had it moved to Michigan. I am putting a JD 245 loader with grapple on it to move trees and brush. ....
