Doing a search in the archives on 'chipper' finds a dozen os so threads. Some manufactures and ideas about chippers are discussed. I think Valby comes up frequently here and elsewhere. When I was looking for one, two dealers happened to have used Apatche chipper/shreders in their yards. The units looked pretty good but I couldn't find out much about the manufacturer.
Sizable chippers are pretty expensive, and models with hydraulic feed are even more dear but very handy. A thing to remember is that the rating of a chipper means that it will take that diameter material. It doesn't mean that it's fast. Chipping sizable material with anything that mounts on a compact can take a lot of time.

I have a little three-point chipper with an auto-feed that is belt driven. Compared to an 8HP Craftsman, it is truly amazing the power it has and what it will chip. The auto-feed is a must have option. Just start the branch and it sucks it in. I generallly run it behind a 18-25 PTO HP tractor, depending on what tractor is handy, and it does real well with 2" stuff, OK with 3" and really slow with 4".I'll tell you the brand when I get a chance to walk out back and take a look at it. The only markings are a sticker that reads MACHETE by Jollyhoe Reg. Pacific Machine Manufacturing Portland Oregon.
Sorry it took a bit to get back to you. I loaned it to a friend and had to contact him to get the info off of it.
