 YANMAR price check

I'm looking at an '81 Yanmar 1300D FWD with about 1000 hours and used daily. Does $3600 sound reasonable? Can it run a 5' finish mower? Also looking at yanmar 1400D (maybe that's 1401D) don't remember how many hours, for $4600. Same questions apply.Thanks...

Both prices seem too high to me. I have been selling greys for 3 years now.

THe prices are a little high for grey market. But keep telling yourselfthat condition is more important than price! I'm not sure if these are greymarket or old US imports. For some reason, the older US imports continue to be about 25% more expensive used than the grey markets. Doesn't make much sensebut there you are. IMHO, both are to small for a 5' bush hog. If you aredetermined to give it a try, be sure that the tractor has a live indeendent PTO. Roger L

Those model numbers are not U.S. models. They will not have a 2 stage clutch orlive independent PTO. You can still use a bush hog on one without live PTO ifyou use an over-run coupler on the PTO. A 5ft bush is too big for one of these tractors. 4ft would be the MAX and I have seen 42inch bush hogs that I would feeleven more comfortable using behind one of these little tractors.Brent

Yep, I agree with you on the bush-hog sizes.....And sure you can use it with anover-run coupler, you can even run one without a coupler if you can get the hangof jerky starts, but apparently this guy is buying the tractor primarily as aplatform for a bush hog. It just makes sense to me to have an independent PTOfor this. Still, I have used a lot of wierd rigs myself and everyone of them wasworlds better than no tractor at all! Speaking of which: remember when there were no compacts? only small Ag types? Many of these didn't have three points -or even hydraulics. These were drawbartype tractors. Most did have some form of live PTO. But the ones which didn'twere real monkey-motion machines, because the first thing everyone did was toadd a PTO driven hydraulic pump so that they had pressure to run an add-onthree-point and/or loader. These were the ones that lifted the implement at various rates, depending on which gear you were in! And the one time you couldcount on not having hydraulic pressure was when you were trying to inch intosomething delicately...But like I said: "'better than no tractor at all." Roger L

You might want to check if the over-run coupler is necessary; I have a '76 YM240, a US model, that has the over-run clutch built-in to thee PTO.
