A few years ago I purchased a Workersave post hole digger with a 12" auger mainly for the purpose of planting trees. There is a tree nursery within about 15 miles that sells 18"-24" pine/spruce trees that are dug with a shovel. The auger works beautifully for planting this size of tree. The 12" auger makes a nice hole and the dirt has been pulverized which makes planting easy. This year I just purchased an 18" auger (fits the worksaver) so I can plant larger trees. I planted 300 Black bills Spruce for a neighbor using this technique and we lost one tree.
