I have a 1700 and it seems the air filter is broken such that the oil splashes out of the filter. The bottom won't
stay clipped on so it makes a big mess and often runs dry.
Is there an aftermarket replacement or some way to retrofit this model. Should I just look for a replacement canister that will actually hold oil? thanx. t.p.b.

You have 2 options here, if the current one is damaged beyond repair.

1st locate a used one and swap especially if you want or need to keep the tractor original.

2nd get a after market dry air cleaner assembly self contained and mount it put the hoses on you need to make the connections.
