Any suggestions on what could be the problem - - - when I turn the tractor key off and take it out of the ignition....it still runs. When I take the key out the engine sounds like it going to turn off then it fires back up and runs. I finally stalled it to get the engine to shut off....now it will not start. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

what is the make of the tractor, gas or diesel provide us with a little more information. With the info. provided it sound like you pinched a wire or a short. could be a number of things. ....

At first blush and without more details as mentioned sounds like a sticky (dirty or corroded) fuel pump relay. ....

Sorry, computer has been down - wasn't able to provide additional information. Tractor is a Mitsubishi diesel three cylindar. Last week when this occured it was the first time the tractor had been started since the winter. It started without a problem. Started and stopped it several times over about three hours. The engine didn't appear to be hot, no smoke, and the electrical will still engage the PTO (etc) when the key is turned to the start position....it just won't fire up any more. The continuous running even when the key is turned off and taken out had never occured before. Thanks. ....
